Tom

Thanks for the below information. Is the meeting tomorrow night open to the public?

I heard that there may be a work session today at the chamber at 3:00 PM in regards to the corridor? Please advise ASAP.

Thank you,

Mr. Bolden,

I would hope that you do take your responsibility as a committee member very seriously, as I think that is what the mayor expected of you when you were appointed. There is no fire, but there was a charge to staff, the consultant and the committee to make a recommendation on a plan for the Central Corridor. That charge has been underway for a almost a year at this point, the city has held numerous meetings, several alternatives have been identified and there has been plenty of time for public outreach. If you feel there is a need to continue with the process then you could certainly bring this up at the committee meeting and see what the feeling of the entire group is.

Subject: Marion Central Corridor Advisory Meeting , September 16th

Dear Nick,

As a newly appointed Advisory Committee Member, I take this responsibility very serious. After meeting with a large number of Marion residents on Saturday, September 12th at the Swamp Fox Festival, I feel we would be doing them a disservice by rushing into one of the proposed plans, as almost 90% of them had no idea the city was planning such a Huge change to their city. If you would go to the feedback section of www.marionproject.com, you could read some of their comments. Also, I have a hard time approving any of the plans without having a cost estimate to make an intelligent decision. I guess that comes natural to me as a business owner, in that regards. I'm sure the residents of Marion would also agree that we shouldn't vote on a plan just because it looks pretty, without seeing a price tag.

Since any of these plans would take years to complete, don't you think it would be wise to go a little slower and let more Marionettes in on this secret. The Marion Corridor Association would be more than happy to use our expertise in informing the public, heck we've only been at it a couple of weeks and look at how much we've accomplished.
